Role and function of the West Midlands Regional Homelessness Strategy Implementation Group

The group was formed in 2005 following a recommendation in the Regional Homelessness Strategy.

As the title of the group suggests its role is to help implement the strategy by working with organisations and local authorities across the region.

The group is not a substitute for local action or local partnerships it has a complementary role with a focus on:

  • fostering best practice
  • encouraging cross boundary work
  • creating the space for authorities and organisations to work on tasks that they might not tackle alone
  • creating a space for other regional organisations to contribute to homelessness work
  • keeping the Regional Housing Board up to date on homelessness issues and trends

The smart action plans are the start of what we think will be a coherent and dynamic process of change.
